Spurrier Shamed, Tebow Sets Records, Should Win Heisman

He15man

The headline is as succinct as I can make it.

We just hung 51 points on Spur-Dog in his own house. Remember, Spurrier felt his team was good enough to win the SEC in 2007. Was he right? Uh, no… he was not. South Carolina is still South Carolina and Florida is still Florida. That does not change just because of head coaching changes. Final: 51-31, with Florida putting up 537 yards to South Carolina’s 384.

Of course, this doesn’t happen without one Tim Freakin’ Tebow suiting up in Gator armor. With his best receiver and Florida’s best running threat, Percy Harvin, sitting at home with a sinus infection, Tebow put up… UNGODLY… stats. I say again, UNGODLY.

His line: 22/32 for 304 yards passing, 2 TDs/1 INT. Rushing: 120 yards for 5 ADDITIONAL TOUCHDOWNS.

Yes, that’s 424 yards of offense from ONE PLAYER.

At least three touchdown passes were dropped by Gator receivers Louis Murphy and Andre Caldwell. C’mon, men… Tebow put those balls on the dot. Those drops were inexcusable. Tebow made the throws necessary for a minimum 4 TD passing night, if not 5. Damn those drops. He was still 68.8% despite them.

I am unable to buy into the notion that Dennis Dixon is somehow the most outstanding player in college football. There is only one who can wear that title. It is Tim Tebow. Period.

I don’t care about the fact that he’s a sophomore. I don’t care that Florida has 3 losses.

Tim Tebow, with at least three games left to go in 2007, has broken the single-season touchdown record at Florida — he’s now accounted for 42 touchdowns. I say again, 42 touchdowns. I expect the record will not just be broken, but shattered by the time the 2007 season is completed. He leads the NCAA in passing efficiency. He is an outstanding power runner. He’s a great field general. The TOTAL PACKAGE.

7 touchdowns.

HEISMAN.

400+ yards of offense… without Percy Harvin.

HEISMAN.

Shamed Spurrier in Columbia.

HEISMAN.

Over 730 yards rushing with the possibility of a 1,000 yard rushing season looming ahead.

HEISMAN.

The best passer in college football.

HEISMAN.

It’s inevitable.

Great night to be a Florida Gator. I’ll be celebrating this one for the next year. We need to keep having these kind of games against Spurrier-coached teams. There’s no better feeling.

Timmy just broke Danny’s single season TD record of 41 TD’s. That may also be an SEC record, not sure. 7 TD’s in one game! Wow! This is a special player. I wish Meyer would take a little better care of him - then again, he probably tries, and Timmy can’t help himself. Did you see him dive at the end of the game trying to get as low as the defender trying to tackle him? He was on the freaking ground and he still dives head first into him! So I’m beginning to think we shouldn’t lay it all on Meyer.

I was screaming at the tv for Timmy to get out of the game. I know he is our only runner, but there should be no reason for him to still be in at that point. Hell, why not put Cam in at that point? Meyer still seems to be wary of his young talent at QB late this season. Oh well, it was a great game. Go Gators!

In some respects, I agree that he was in the game too long. I didn’t mind the passes — the offensive line’s protection of Tebow was outstanding all night long and he was safe back there. But bullying ahead for runs to keep the chains moving seems crazy. Like Dad said, some of this is probably due to Tim’s competitive nature. It’s just not in him to stop fighting. He’s better about running out of bounds and he slid for the first time I can remember late in the 4th, but we’ve got to stop letting him take those hits when the game’s already in the bag. And he needs to regard himself as a precious commodity as well.

I would vote Tebow for the Heisman, and I’m a Kentucky fan, so that tells you how good I think he is.

Now, don’t forget to root for the cats the next two weeks. You need us right now.

[…] Why The Bow wins the heisman, if Herban doesn’t kill him first [Alligator Army] and [OrangeBlueHue] […]

Might I ask what Tebow tastes like? I’m shocked if he has anything left below the belt after everyone has mouthed it to death.

He’s a great player, don’t get me wrong, and as a non-gator fan, I enjoy watching him play week in and week out because of his nature and drive on the field.. But I drawn the line there.. He’s not God, and he’s certainly not the best thing out there, nor the best thing there ever will be.
