31-30
I miss Ed Orgeron.
The unthinkable happened — Florida found a way to lose, inexplicably, against a decent, but not great, Ole Miss squad. The Rebels are 2-0 in their last two visits to the Swamp.
Frankly, Florida deserved to lose this game. Awful play from the quarterback position, questionable defense, gimmicky playcalling, completely mind-boggling fumbles, and dropsies from the Gators’ vaunted WR corps contributed to the final result.
Don’t even get me started on the blocked PAT. Inexcusable. Simply inexcusable.
Despite the massive love and support of Gator Nation, Tebow has yet to bring the Gators back from a 4th-quarter deficit to win. Down only a point with 2:05 on the clock and a T.O. left, with only a field goal needed to win? At home? Against a team that lost to Wake Forest and Vandy? If our quarterback can’t pull that one out, when can he?
My darkest thought of the day: this talk of Tebow leaving after his junior year is entirely too premature. He may not have the opportunity to go pro at all if he keeps playing like he did today. I’m just sayin’.

Completely agree. Total lack of heart out there today. Nobody was pumping up the side lines, the crowd was quiet and Tebow looked like he was sick. Case in point his 20 yard scramble where he was casually jogging when nobody was around him.

looks like the post before was a little arrogant (cocky)…”oh yeah we play ole miss tomorrow” what the hell! Ole miss is now 6-3 at the swamp and 11-11 overall…think that deserves a little more pregame attention than a brief little post that is more than an afterthought the day before the game…maybe in the future you will give us a little more respect..oh yeah that 4th and 1 call (no one knew that yall were gonna give it to Tebow (Jesus Christ)…so predictable

play calling was miserable once again.
That run by Tebow was very effortless… a heart-ful Tebow would have tried for the TD. My only thought is too much internal struggle with the conservative (predictable) play calling. He does not have a poise in the pocket, way too much indecision this year.

Enjoy your win, William, and pile on all you like. We deserve it, apparently.

im not bashing i just wanted to say that we deserve a little more respect…we are an sec team and any team can beat any other team in this conference due to the parity of talent of all the teams. in conference play whoever wants it more wins it…it shows every saturday

But what if Ohio State were an SEC team?

By the way, congrats way overdue on your former stud, who boldly went where no other ex-Ole Miss QB named Manning went before.

Say goodbye to the season - Just wait till we play REAL SEC opponents.

Hippy hit the nail on the head.
Can anyone remember the last time the Gators came out of the locker room to start the 2nd half and didn’t go 3 and out and look like zero adjustments were made?
By skigator93 on 09.28.08 10:47 am
Look on the bright side, Ski.
The other 1-loss football team you love reached half its win total from last season in just 3 games.

By the way, nobody mentioned the fact that the last time a Nutt team played us, it was pretty close as well.
As in, the 2006 SEC championship game vs. Arkansas.

Just this past week, on an Orlando-Sentinel sports blog, I stated how lucky a team had to be to get through a season unscathed, with a bunch of 18 - 19 year old, heady kids. What I neglected to mention — or at least emphasize — was that good coaching was a “must have.”
The Gators were not ready to play on Saturday and I want to know why.
This is, essentially, the same offense that lit-up last years SEC scoreboards, with some improvements. Yet, they haven’t come close to equaling that this year. How come?
This is the same defense that’s been throttling opposing offenses all year, until Saturday. Why?
Something smells in Gainesville right now, and it’s “coaching.” The only question is, just how deep does it go? And how long has it been going on, unnoticed by so many, because we were on another “national championship run” — or so we were deluded into thinking; either by someone (s) else…..or ourselves.
I do not like the looks of this…..something is very wrong. And I like the foreseeable ramifications even less. We have too much talent, and too many very well paid coaches, to come out of that tunnel on Saturday, unprepared.
Some hard and direct questions need to asked…..and addressed!

After we went for it on 4th & 3 from their thirty on our opening drive and failed to convert I leaned over to the guy that sits across the aisle from me and said: “Not kicking a field goal there is going to be what costs us the game if they keep this thing close”…
I kept thinking about that failed 4th down conversion as the game went on…
Could have been a 13 point game at the half…
After Ole Miss tied it up, I told the guy across the aisle: “We’d be up right now if we kicked that field goal”…
After they blocked the extra point: “We’d be up by two right now if we kickcked that field goal”…
After the game: “We’d have won by two if we had just kicked the field goal”…
By gatorhippy on 09.28.08 3:21 pm
Believe or not, I think that they actually did it twice.
Here’s the thing: I know that Coach Meyer doesn’t feel that he has a guy who can kick it 50 yards, but gimme a break.
But there have been stories of Caleb Sturgis making it…from 70 yards (I kid you not). Yes, he did miss one from 40 yards in the spring game, but it’s the spring game! You never know if the kid has it in him if you don’t put him out there on the field.
And the worst part is, Florida still had a chance to win the game in spite of doing everything nearly opposite to Urban Meyer’s “Plan to Win” In spite of the fumbles, the special teams miscues, and the Swiss cheese defense.

Let’s face it, gents, 10 points were gift-wrapped for the Rebs early in the 3rd quarter. You’re not going to win the game giving away points and field position.

Decent Ole Miss team?
They lost to Wake Forest and Vanderbilt?
I’d say bad is a better description.
Horrible loss.
By Tyler on 09.28.08 5:35 pm
I’ll admit nearly the entire country (except an Ole Miss fan) overlooked the Rebels on Saturday. Better to have a loss early and learn from your mistakes. There is still a lot of football to be played. Go Gators!!!!
By John on 09.29.08 1:51 pm
the rebels gave up alot of points also,do you think all those flags and penalties was worth nothing? if you know anything about football you know that they can cost you a game!! so do not think that the gators were the only ones that gave up points!!!!! the rebels was not in the same category that the gators was in. the rebels have played twice as good as the gators to bet them.play the game again and we will beat you again!!!!! go rebs hottie toddie
By rebelfan on 09.30.08 7:55 pm
Congrats on the win Rebelfan, but you should really learn your team cheer….it’s Hottie Toddy….
Y’all sure seem to have our number on the football field.
