Tebow 3rd-Team All-American? Are You Kidding Me?

Warmin' up, laughin'. Ha-ha.

This has to be a joke.

Yeah, only the greatest college football player of our generation. The guy who won SEC and national championships as a freshman, a Heisman Trophy as a sophomore, and has now led his team to an SEC title and BCS championship berth as a junior. The guy who trucks middle linebackers like they’re tackle dummies. The guy who transformed offense in the SEC. The guy who re-wrote the quarterback position. The Living Legend.

3rd team. That’s freaking hilarious.

I strongly disagree with my esteemed colleague, Keltic Gator, who believes that Bradford and McCoy had more compelling arguments to this year’s Heisman Trophy. I ask a simple question: if you’re building a college football team and can start with any quarterback, who do you take?

No one in their right mind — other than Oklahoma and Texas fans, of course — would take anyone ahead of Tim Tebow.

Tim Tebow should have won this year’s Heisman. He should be first team All-American. There isn’t a better player in college football. There hasn’t been in the last decade. There is only one Tim Tebow.

First team All-Everything.

The good: 3rd team All-American is better than not being an All-American at all.

The bad: The voting committee is made up of OU and UT fans.

The ugly: Brandon Spikes being a 1st-teamer with the reduced stats argument working in *his* favor.

Look at it this way, GP. If you’re a Texas fan, then Oklahoma is being set up more and more for a giant downfall on the 8th as payment for BCS injustice. As they say, karma stinks.

I will happily accept a crystal football in lieu of the award circuit accolades. Still, this stinks for our boy.

I can’t understand the 3rd-team placement for the life of me either!! Tebow is hands down the best there is plain and simple; end of argument if you even had one. People knock Tebow about his mechanics and go on and on……and on about how he’ll never make it in the pros!! I say big freakin deal let’s see how things play themselves out! The guy has a shit load of heart and that can make you pretty damn successful in just about anything you do! Once Tebow wins the NC/MVP in 22 days (I X my calendar everyday) hopefully then he’ll be given a substantial amount of accolades that he rightfully deserves – like for starters 1st-team All-American!! Screw the AP there all corrupt like those bigwigs in DC!! Burn ‘em all!!! After Jan. 8th they’ll write this long drawn out article about Tebow parting the Red Sea and so on but they vote the guy 3rd-team. Hypocrites!!!

GO GATORS!!!!!

All that argument of “he won’t be any good when he gets to the pro’s” crap is really painful. Like anyone knew Tom Brady at Michigan. Where did TO go to school? Didn’t think so.

I think all this really plays into our hands because you know it has to irk our boy and a pissed off Tebow is a meeean Tebow. Ask FSUcks.

People:

One of the dirty little secrets of college football is that a regular fan watches more football every single week than an AP voter. Journalists spent virtually all day Saturday traveling to and from whatever game they were assigned to watch, and then have interviews to watch and a deadline to make for their article. By the time it’s all said and done, they ::might:: get to watch the evening primetime game if they covered an 11am or 12pm kickoff game.

Basically, I’m pointing all of that out to argue that most pollsters simply looked at the end of season stats and chose their quarterback on that one simple action. Is that fair? No. But it really doesn’t matter, either.

For the record, Urb, T.O. played for the Tennessee-Chattanooga Mockingbirds.

I was hoping for this. The last thing I wanted was a lot of gator-felacio in the month leading up to this game.

Motivation.

Tenn-Chattanooga Moccasins …

VG how’d you manage to put Mockingbirds? Does anyone know if CI will be playing in the NC game? I imagine he should be just about done rehabbing by now. Thanks.

GO GATORS!!!!

I would love to see CI play. I’m sure he wouldn’t really be able to cut hard yet - that injury takes a year+ to rehab. But how great would it be to play him and get him a catch so he makes the stat book and will forever be a player on this team?!!? I know he’s still on the team, but I think it would mean something to him to be in the box score. I hope our coaches agree.

As for the All American thing, I really don’t care. “How does it feel to be an All American?”

“I gotta pee.”

the gainesville sun is reporting that tebow is filing his draft papers to see where he is projected. i’m thinking they will place him late second or early third round and he will come back.

Greatest comment I’ve seen in regard to the Bradford-McCoy-Harrell trio by Mike Bianchi in an article “Worthy choise wasn’t the right Choice” on OrlandoSentinel.com on 12/14/08. He described those stat-gloated pretty boys as “…all clones of one another.” He makes a great point. Tebow stood on his own, apart and in front of those three. Just another injustice to serve as Tebow snacks for the National Championship. OU isn’t going to like Tebow mad.
Anyone hear noise on Strong going to UCF? Odd rumor…..

When Tim Tebow brings the Gator Nation another National Championship, he’ll go down as one of the greatest to ever play the game… even if he skips his senior season.

I thought the mascot was the bird on the choo-choo.

And no, I’m not talking infantile for infantility’s sake. After all, this IS Chattanooga.

Oh well, like they say, I didn’t know the half of it.

Besides, did you even know there was a UTC before I brought it up?

I’m sorry guys, I’m not normally a “whiney,” “Monday morning quarterback,” but this is so blatant, I think even the most diehard “Gator haters” are embarrassed with this little faux pas. Certainly the honorable ones.

These “awards” pronouncements, have become nothing more than a political game of oneupsmanship, and if Tebow, or any other Gator for that matter, NEVER wins another so-called “award,” I will be delighted.

In my opinion, and I’m now sure that of a multitude of others, said awards are not worth the recognition that the media gives them — certainly a very willing party to this little charade.

Tim Tebow most certainly is not a second time Heisman award winner. And he is not “everybody’s” college football All-American award winner. He is the antithesis of, the very model for, the reasons that those awards were created. He cannot be voted as an awards winner, by a handful of ideologically induced, politically correct, self proclaimed sports gurus, who have forgotten — if indeed, they ever knew — just exactly what the awards were for.

Tebow IS the Heisman! Tebow IS “everybody’s All American!” He is the role model, the very reason for, these awards! He was not made for these awards. These awards were made for him!

Fuck Tim Tebow. He is a system quaterback and a late seveth rd draft pick at best

Classy, Andrew. “System QB” is one of the most uninspired, unintelligent, over-used BS ways to desrcibe any signal caller. Us Gators certainly would like Tim to succeed in the NFL or whatever other endeavor he chooses, but he is currently the QB of a possible two-time national championship team who should have won back-to-back Heismans. Take your infantile cynicism elsewhere.

If anyone’s a product of “a system” Andrew, it’s you!

All of your “ideologically induced” hatred toward anything Gator, is a-typical of your type of personality, and is perfectly in line with your failure to create anything from your own thought processes, and is spewed forth in a repetive manner, of whosoever you heard it from last. It’s entirely possible, that you’ve never had an original thought or idea in your entire lifetime.

Your kind of politically correct, self proclaimed sports “genius,” can only function in “a system” where your opinions are hand fed to you from someone else, and even then are so blatently devoid of intellect, that you’re a dead giveaway.

If you wish to see the true product of “a system,” go take a long look in the mirror. You might be surprised at who you meet. Although I seriously doubt it.

Oh…..one more thing. Although I’ve explained this to you nay sayers on more than one occasion, I’ll give it a try once again, in hopes that the message will finally cut through that rock you call a head, and enlighten your club of Lemmings;

We Gators are not as “all consumed” with the NFL, as those of you who can no longer depend on your college level team, for that “we are better than you” superiority. We are devoted to the college game, and couldn’t care less about your “late seveth rd draft pick” comment. You have, once again, missed your target!

Bad news gator fans. As you know I have an infinite hatred for the orange and blue, and usually cheer my hardest against them. Yet, I will be cheering for Florida in the championship game, which probably means you will lose since every time I cheer against them, they win. Maybe I should go for Oklahoma? I’m confused. I think Tebow lost the heisman because he’s been around for three years and everybody knows he’s good. Bradford was kind of lost on the general sports public until this year.

Hey Andrew I pray your not a Sooner fan because I wouldn’t want you to see what happens when Florida faces “NFL prospect” Sammy Bradford. Nothing against “Jason White with knee ligaments”, but Florida doesn’t seem to struggle against pro prospect QBs, I mean Stafford’s supposed to be Favre between the Hedges and he led his team (with a much better WR prospect in Green, and a better RB prospect in Moreno) to all of 3 points against Florida; or hey what about “prototype” Jamarcus Russell, that guy sure dominated us in his draft year, or hey how about “greatest QB evar111!!!!111″ Peyton Manning, and his 0-4 record against Florida that basically cost him the Heisman and the national title. In all honesty I can think of exactly 2 pro-style future draft pick QBs who played well against us, one from the Zook Era (hard to count, its like asking OU fans about pre-Stoops/post-Switzer, OSU fans about Cooper, or Dawg fans about everyone after Dooley) in Eli Manning (who, what do you know actually wins big games at more than a Fluke rate, funny that the brother who was statistically inferior but didn’t repeatedly choke in the clutch does the same thing in the pro’s, its almost like past performance is indicative of future succuess) and Weinke (who in fairness was basically a 3rd year pro already, it’d be like Grossman coming in this year as a Sophmore to play for us), other than that the QBs that beat Florida have been either cagy vets (the LSU guy last year, Patrick Nix, etc.) or Dual threat guys (Tee Martin, Frazier, Ole Miss with the Wild Reb, etc.).

I’ve noticed, and you guys can tell me if I’m alone on this one, but people who bring up the “they will do this or that in the pro’s” usually either a. didn’t go to college, or b. don’t really watch college ball.

Me, personally, football season ends when the Gators stop playing. I like the NFL, but in Florida on a 78 degree sunday afternoon, i’m either going to the game or doing something outside (besides cooking)

I’m a dedicated Arkansas Razoback fan, but i’m also an SEC fan and student of the game as well.
I also work with a few dedicated OU fans, and as you could only imagine, the BS is unbelievable.

I watched the SEC this season with a little bit of uncertainty in the beginning.
Georgia, Florida, LSU and Auburn were supposed to be the ones making the most waves this season.
As all of these teams played somewhat sub-par football, compared to the usual, only Florida seemed to get better as the season wore on.
After the Ole Miss loss and actually letting the Hogs hang around for 3 quarters, the Gators seemed to start putting the pieces together with the blowout of LSU.
By the time the Gators desposed of the SC Gamecocks 56-3, I was convinced they were the team to beat. I was not wrong.

Meanwhile, while the Gators got off to their somewhat unusually sluggish start, OU was pounding on some of the weakest Div.1 non-conference opponents known to mankind.
After that, they continued with their offensive onslaught of decent, but not good defenses, with their Big 12 schedual.

I want to make this as clear as possible; Texas, by far, had the only defense in the Big 12 capable enough to keep consistant pressure on Sam Bradford.
Who was OUs only defeat this season? That’s right, and Colt McCoy wasn’t the biggest reason that happened.

Critics can say what ever they choose, but this game belongs to the Gators.
Does anyone believe the Sooners will put up 60+ on the Gators? OU fans do.
That’s just part of the garbage I have to listen to at work.

I can’t wait to see Bradford running for his life in the 4th qt.
It’ll be a hell of a lot better than watching him just stand around and play catch with his recievers.
Aren’t those Big 12 defensive lines just awesome?

GO GATORS!!!!!

Can one of you obviously unbiased Gator fans please explain to me why Tebow deserved the Heisman last year and this year? I mean, last year it was all about his stats and so there could be no argument and this year all these QBs with better stats don’t matter…how does that work? And Bradford, McCoy and Harrell all had a 1-loss record, so it can’t be about that. Tebow should have been sitting at home watching Bradford win the trophy with Harrell, Crabtree, and Shon Greene in attendance instead. And now you people are here to complain about Superman only being a 3rd team All-American, seriously? He plays QB folks, so he is going to be compared to other QBs. His numbers aren’t as good as the others at his position, and McCoy has better rushing numbers too. UF is where they are because they have a good D this year and a better supporting cast on offense. If it was still all Tebow and Harvin you would be back in the Outback or Capital One Bowl (case in point, the Ole Miss game was the best statistical game for both Harvin and Tebow and that didn’t go too well for ya, did it?). Individual awards aren’t the greatest things ever, football is the ultimate team sport, get over it!

Yes Tebow is a leader who amped his team up after the ole miss loss. He is a great role model. etc, etc. But seriously, he did not deserve the Heisman this year period. Last year all I heard from every Gator fan I knew was this ” look at his stats ,look at his stats” ok fine, he won because he had good stats. This year other QBs had BETTER stats than Tebow but now he is being snubbed? I know we all are passionate about our teams and players and our conference. but you guys really need to calm down and get over it. Tebow is a great player no doubt whatsoever, But to call him the “Greatest Player of our era” ? I don`t think so.

If you could pick one player in college football right now to build your team around, then you would either pick Tebow or you would be an idiot. That is what the best player in college football is about.

Look at the stats? Tebow has thrown 2 INTs against 28 TDs. That is ridiculous. Comparing offensive stats in the Big 12 against offensive stats in the SEC is like comparing an NFL quarterback’s numbers against an Arena League quarterback’s numbers.

I don’t really care about the Heisman either year because it is a crappy political award. All I care about are championships. One down, one to go!
