SEC PowerPoll Week 10
Okay folks, week 10 is now in the record books and here are the latest O&BHue rankings for the SEC!
1) Florida - Tebow’s effort keeps him near the top in Heisman contention but . . . just barely.
2) Alabama - Another week, another tough game. This week a new hero rose up to save Alabama’s season. This weeks game ball goes to SEC Replay official Gerald Hodges!
3) LSU - LSU lost Charles Scott, Jordan Jefferson AND Patrick Peterson in the game. The Tigers couldn’t have been more impacted if Saban had a sniper in the stadium.
4) Auburn - The Furman Paladins played themselves while the Auburn Tigers played a giant, 3-headed, fire breathing dragon enjoying some Paladin flavored BBQ.
5) Tennessee - With Memphis down only Vandy stands between the Vols and TOTAL DOMINATION OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE!!! Behold the rise of the Kiffin Empire!
6) South Carolina - The Gamecocks have lost 3 of their last four and are on the verge of collapse. That can mean only one thing . . . THANKSGIVING IS ALMOST HERE!!!
7) Mississippi - How is it fair that N. Arizona has to play Sacramento State and Ole Miss BACK TO BACK?!?! The schedule is not doing the Lumberjacks any favors this year.
8) Arkansas - Petrino has the Hogs one win away from bowl eligibility.
9) Georgia - Just what the doctor ordered for poor coach Richt. A nice big cup of Ohio Vally Conference member Tennessee Tech to make things better.
10) Kentucky - The Vandy game will probably determine if Kentucky makes it’s 4th straight bowl game. Although Georida is still on the schedule.
11) Mississippi State - Mullen and company await Alabama in the ultimate trap game.
12) Vanderbilt - Vandy, the only school that looks at the Memphis Football Program with stares of envy.
This weekend doesn’t bring us the BIG game like last week’s LSU-Alabama matchup but there are some compelling matchups in league. Kentucky can ensure themselves a fourth consecutive bowl season with a win over Vanderbilt. If they lose then they’ll need to upset either Georgia or Tennessee to get the bid (of course those games aren’t as daunting this season as in the past). Auburn at Georgia looks like a game that could be a potential shootout. Auburn scores a lot against average defenses and to say that Georgia has an “average” defense would be an insult to average defenses everywhere. Florida and South Carolina still has some interest in it although late season Gamecock games quickly lose luster with their typical end of the year collapse.
Alabama and Mississippi State could be the trap game of the year for the Tide. Everything seems to set up for the Bulldogs who are playing much better now under Mullen. MSU had the off week/they play at home at night/Alabama is coming off an emotional and physical marquee game, etc. Tennessee and Ole Miss is actually an interesting game when it comes to bowl slotting. Both teams are still fighting for second place in their respective divisions.
As always check out the combined SEC Powerpoll on Wednesday at TeamSpeedKills.

I took some heat on this website last year for repeatedly saying Alex Tyus was our best b-ball player. Well, it looks like the SEC coaches see what I see . . .

KG, First let me say that while I don’t always agree with the opinions stated in your weekly SEC PowerPoll Week, I most assuredly appreciate the efforts you put into producing the work each and every week, and look forward to seeing it here. It is, as they say, “a LABOR of love,” and I thank you.
In reviewing your Tebow/Heisman discussion, in the above stated “Power Poll,” may I add that somehow, I don’t think that “The Heisman” is Tebow’s highest concern right now. My take on Tim is; he wants that ever elusive “undefeated” season, most of all – and, for the entire Gator Nation — and a second consecutive national tital, in that order. If that brings him his second Heisman, and it most assuredly should — in a sane world — so be it. If not, so what! Honor, and a love of God and team, are his driving motavations.
Would it be that the rest of this nation was the same.

well said bull gator, we have to look at last years “insane” heisman voting. the heisman voters chose a “quick release” over prolific running, passing, and just “being a winner and knowing how to win games” these intangibles mean nothing to the heisman voters. go gators

Why are you commenting on Tyus in this thread and during football season?
Let’s hold off on the misery that is UF basketball at least until after the FSU game!

BG,
I think you are dead on with Tebow and the Heisman. It’s more of a bragging point for us fans. I don’t think he’ll lose much sleep over it one way or the other. I’d trade the Heisman for another National Title and you KNOW Tim would without any hesitation.

this just in, 3 UT football players have been arrested for robbing a convenience store in knoxville. let the games begin

Amen to that KG and I agree with you in toto about Tebow and the Heisman. It’s a shame that the rest of us — or at least more of us — don’t have his mindset. The world might be a better place to live. Tim is truly the kind of lad that you hope your daughter brings home to dinner.
Thank you for your insight and keep those weekly Power Polls coming. I look forward to them each week.
“…let the games begin” indeed pLANEolG8rB8 and I heard somewhere yesterday, that Kiffin has been niminated as “SEC Coach of the Year.” Can you believe that?
Now…..if he had been nominated as “SEC Mouth of the Year,” that would be different!
By Bull Gator on 11.12.09 1:05 pm
Oops! Sorry about that. I meant to say nominated, not niminated (Is that even a word?!). Damn Spell Check. It also keeps telling me that the gentleman now in occupancy in the White House, is called Osama, not Obama. Although………………

Hey pLANEolG8rB8, I just read that our one time Gator commitment, turned Lane Kiffin Vol BS diciple, Nu’Keese Richardson, was one of those involved in that robbery. I have to wonder if that was one of the perks that Kiffin used to lure Richardson to Tennessee. In any event, it looks as though we got lucky — something I’ve always claimed was better then being good! Better the Vols than us. With the MSM and ESPN still salavating over the perceived criminal activities of our Brandon Spikes, can you imagine what they would have done had Richardson been a Gator.

NUKEESE RICHARDSON just arrested for armed robbery.
