March 18th, 2010 FLORIDA FOOTBALL: FOOD FOR A MAN'S SOUL SEND US AN EMAIL

(Bitter)sweet times in the Big Easy.

It’s officially ended, men. The championship season that wasn’t and the era of the hyped QB that was all came to an end. Some reflections on the Tebow/(Meyer?) Era:

*Florida is the first FBS/Division-1 school in history to post back-to-back 13 win seasons, and thus, the first to have three in four seasons. I’d say two out of three, while not ideal, certainly isn’t bad.

*Tim Tebow never missed a game in four years. Wow.

*Tebow ends with 145 total touchdowns, by far a school record, is fourth all-time in passing yardage with 9,285 (just three yards shy of beating Shane Matthews for third place), sixth all-time in rushing yardage with 2947, and tied for second (with his predecessor, Chris Leak) with 88 touchdown passes.

*Tebow had a career high in rushing yardage this season (yes, including ‘07)

*Coach, however you decide upon your future, for your sake and for our team’s, please, please, please do it as soon as reasonably possible. And I’m not just saying this because the coaching situation will hurt us in recruiting. We’ll still do fine.

I just have to say that I’m very proud of the way the team and coaches handled that game yesterday. While I was pretty disappointed (maybe even bitter) in the way they played in Atlanta, I think they finally got all the “stuff” out of their heads and just went out and had fun. They played their hearts out for the coaches and their teammates, and it was a pure pleasure to watch.

Thank you Timmy, Urban Meyer, Coach Strong, and all the outgoing seniors for one hell of a ride over the last 4 years. We’ll miss you.

We finished with a curbstomping…that’s fine by me. True, it wasn’t on ole Texas but hangin’ half-a-hundred on lesser opponents is what makes us gators and I am proud of it. Unfortuneately, this win may give credence to Coach Addazio’s style of playcalling, but really this was the only game where we clicked the whole year, except FSU, of course. Go gators!

It’s great to be a Florida Gator-especially the last four years. I am glad for Tebow that the college pressure is over for him- what high expectations we have had with very few letdowns. I still can’t process any explanation I’ve heard about why the SEC game turned out like it did.

this is sad news….thank you for your effort and goodbye. i have enjoyed reading your blog for a few years now..even added it to my favorites list.
